HOPE & CHANGE
Location: La Verne, CA & Ventura, CA Clients: David & Margaret Youth and Family Services & the City of Ventura It has been well documented that the visual arts have a restorative power in the healing process, both psychologically and physically. The same can be said of nature, which is uplifting, life-affirming, and complete in a quiet, undemanding way. Inspired by the mountain ranges that form the backdrop of many Southern California communities, the design is comprised of twelve panels that together form one continuous landscape. For the David & Margaret Youth and Family Services Cedar Springs Apartments in La Verne, the panels were fabricated from steel and serve as a handicap ramp guardrail. For the City of Ventura temporary installation at the Coastal Communities Cancer Hospital, the panels were made from translucent sheets of mylar backed with colored paper that evoke the colors of the four seasons. |
