At studiofolia we believe in designing spaces that connect people to nature and place, through the media of public art and landscape.
Based in Los Angeles, studiofolia is led by James Dinh. Working at the confluence of public art and landscape architecture, James draws on the cultural landscape unique to each site to generate multi-layered narratives that explore notions of history, memory, place, and ecology within the context of public space. Complementary to his landscape architecture background, he holds a Master's degree in public health and undergraduate degree in biology, all of which no doubt inform his holistic approach to design.
As a licensed landscape architect in the states of California and Washington, (Cindy) Chaoti Chen oversees landscape architectural projects. She has worked on a range of project typologies in Asia, including public parks and commercial developments. LEED certified, Cindy believes that sustainability in terms of design is about ensuring that our actions and decisions today do not inhibit the opportunities of future generations. Cindy and James were classmates in the Master's in Landscape Architecture program at the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
